IREENE OLLINO
Our founder comes from Tallinn, Estonia. As the creative mind behind #IT, the young Berlin-based artist combines artistic vision with project-driven organisation. Since 2025, she has been developing innovative formats that connect people, ideas, and cultures.
Unsere Gründerin stammt aus Tallinn, Estland. Als kreativer Kopf von #IT verbindet die junge Berlinerin künstlerische Vision mit projektbezogener Organisation. Seit 2025 gestaltet sie innovative Formate, die Menschen, Ideen und Kulturen miteinander vernetzen.
#IT
The artist collective #IT was founded in Berlin in the summer of 2025. It consists of the Estonian-German mezzo-soprano Ireene Ollino and the German tenor Thaisen Rusch, who was born in Sri Lanka.
#IT sees itself as a cultural reformer and bridge-builder between different cultural spheres as well as diverse artistic disciplines. Its mission is to connect people, institutions, and artistic perspectives across national and cultural boundaries.
Within its first year, the collective successfully launched a number of projects. These include recording projects with Roman Trekel and RTR Media Produktion Berlin at the Musikbrauerei Berlin, among them the Lullaby “Wiegenlied” in Tamil, Estonian, and German, as well as photographic collaborations with Caroline Wimmer in Berlin.
#IT’s cooperation partners include the CMSC (Chamber Music Society of Colombo; Lakshman Joseph De Saram), the Rukmini Tissanayagam Trust (Mohan Tissanayagam), the Goethe-Institut Colombo (Jan Ramesh De Saram), Kälam Jaffna, the German Embassy Colombo (Sri Lanka), the Goethe-Institut South America, the German Embassy Asunción (Paraguay; Jörg Herrera), the OSCA (Orquesta Sinfónica de la Ciudad de Asunción; Luis Szarán), the ICPA-GZ (Instituto Cultural Paraguayo-Alemán; Simone Herdrich), as well as other institutions and partners.
Through music, art, and personal encounters, #IT is working towards a vibrant cultural connection between Germany, Estonia, and Sri Lanka. Its vision is to create a sustainable network that brings together people, ideas, and artistic perspectives across continents, opening new spaces for cultural dialogue, mutual understanding, and creative collaboration.

Das Künstlerkollektiv #IT wurde im Sommer 2025 in Berlin gegründet. Es besteht aus der estnisch-deutschen Mezzosopranistin Ireene Ollino und dem in Sri Lanka geborenen deutschen Tenor Thaisen Rusch.
#IT versteht sich als kultureller Reformer und Brückenbauer zwischen unterschiedlichen Kulturräumen sowie verschiedenen Kunstformen. Ziel ist es, Menschen, Institutionen und künstlerische Perspektiven über nationale und kulturelle Grenzen hinweg miteinander zu verbinden.
Bereits innerhalb des ersten Jahres gelang es dem Kollektiv, zahlreiche Projekte auf den Weg zu bringen. Die Vision ist ein nachhaltiges Netzwerk, das Menschen, Ideen und künstlerische Perspektiven über Kontinente hinweg zusammenführt und neue Räume für kulturellen Dialog, gegenseitiges Verständnis und kreative Zusammenarbeit schafft.
THAISEN RUSCH
He oversees #IT’s national and international cooperation partners, coordinates projects, and forms the collective’s artistic leadership together with Ireene Ollino.
In addition, he contributes many years of experience from the performing arts sector, trade union work, and academic teaching to the development of #IT.
Er betreut die nationalen und internationalen Kooperationspartner von #IT, koordiniert Projekte und bildet gemeinsam mit Ireene Ollino das künstlerische Leitungsteam des Kollektivs.
Darüber hinaus bringt er langjährige Erfahrung aus dem Theaterbetrieb, der Gewerkschaftsarbeit sowie der akademischen Lehrtätigkeit in die Arbeit von #IT ein.
